A Just War

It has been almost a year since the brutal terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel. Over this time there has been a great hesitancy by the Australian Government to defend Israel and it’s right to defend itself. Recently Hamas put forward a UN resolution calling for Israel to retreat out of Gaza and the West Bank with no conditions attached. This resolution makes no condemnation of the unprovoked October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas, this resolution says nothing about the release of hostages still held by Hamas. This resolution attempts legitimise Hamas, a terrorist organisation, as a legitimate government. This resolution essentially makes Israel, the only legitimate democracy in the Middle East, as being an illegitimate government. And could prove to be a significant step in the attempt to see the elimination of Israel as a country.

Another recent development in this conflict was a strategic attack by Israel against Hezbollah (which have been active partners with Hamas in this conflict, as well as in many other coordinated attacks against Israel), where Israel managed to blow-up hundreds of Hezbollah issued pagers, killing over a dozen Hezbollah operatives, and injuring many more. Surprisingly many criticised Israel for this, even though it was a tactical strategy that effectively targeted terrorist operatives, without harming civilians.

This ultimately is the difference between Hamas & Hezbollah, compared to Israel. Hamas & Hezbollah in typical terrorist fashion intentionally target civilians, and avoid engaging with military and police, while hiding behind civilians themselves. Israel on the other hand intentionally targets terrorist operatives, while doing all they can to limit civilian casualties, and doing an exceptional job at protecting their own citizens. Obviously there have been civilian casualties amongst the Arabs in Gaza and Lebanon, as there have been of Israeli civilians, and as there are in every war, and as is unavoidable when a fighting an enemy that does not wear uniforms, but instead dresses like civilians, and hides behind civilians, such as putting their bases inside hospitals.

The Australian government has demonstrated that they are unwilling to defend friends and allies. The Australian government has shown a willingness to side with our enemies (Hamas & Hezbollah would love to see Australia destroyed). The Australian government has demonstrated that when given a choice between siding with terrorists, and dictators; or with liberal democracies, they will choose the terrorists every time.

At the next election the Australian people must get rid of the current government for several reasons, but possibly the most important one, is that the current government as willingly aligned themselves with terrorists; which tells us a lot about what sort of government it is.
